TIME FOR ONE MORE ROADIE

 

Summer is the time to find the best beaches and camping spots by rolling around in a stuffed car with your family and friends on a road trip that lasts for hours.

 

How are you going to survive the drive this summer?

 

The first step is to get comfy. There's nothing worse than trying to stay civil with your siblings when you're cramped, hot, and wish you hadn’t worn your tight denim shorts because you have a wedgie and there are still two hours left.

 

Wear something cute, but comfortable. Like trackies (if you don't mind the heat) or lace pants/shorts.

 

Then make sure you have some sort of air conditioning like your car’s AC, or a handheld fan also does the trick. This makes sure you don't get hot and bothered.

 

Making sure your headrest is at the right height would be a good idea, too, and a good amount of legroom makes for a peaceful, uncramped journey.

 

Once you get to your destination, you can slap on your berks and jorts without any worries. If you are near a beach, a nice sarong always looks pretty, especially with your favourite togs underneath, always ready for a spontaneous swim.

• The Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan (technically for younger readers, but still a very enjoyable read)

Starting a good game with friends is always super fun. You could start a game of football or volleyball on the beach during the day, or set up a cricket game after dinner, for a sunset match.

 

If you want to calm down with a good card or board game, bring a deck of cards, monopoly-deal, or Cards Against Humanity (for a good laugh). Chameleon is a great impostor-like game, and if you’re in it for the strategy, bring monopoly or chess.
